Mural-Space Room

In this room we went for a space feel.
I did have the teachers of each rooom give me their feedback on what they would like to see on the walls. I thought since they were the ones that would be staring at them all the time, I wanted their input. This teacher thought a space room would be cool with a little boy and his dog blasting off into space. The silver of the ship was painted in a metallic silver but didn't show up as "shiny" in the photo as it does in real life when the lights hit it. The "rivets" on the side of the ship are 3-D as well giving it a little more punch for the kids. They can actually go up to the wall and touch the rivets and the piece becomes a little bit more interactive. I used some washers and neat buttons I found at Home Depot and then used an adhesive bonding agent to afix them to each other and then the wall. Those suckers ain't coming off!


Total size: Around 7.5' wide X 5' tall (with the planets it's probably bigger but I'm not being nit-picky about measuring these things.

- Sketched on paper and overhead projected onto wall.
- Penciled and then painted in acrylic house paints of various hues, mixed by hand in little cups and then applied.
- Linework finished with varying sizes of Sharpie® Markers.
